Library Board of Trustees
The Library Board of Trustees is an advisory board. The board consists of 12 members appointed by the Rockingham County Board of Commissioners, plus one commissioner. Meetings are held in January, March, May, July, September, and November.

Friends of the Library Monthly Meeting Schedule
Eden Friends of the Library Meetings will be held on the 1st Wednesday of each month at 4:00 p.m.
Reidsville Friends of the Library Meetings will be held on the 1st Monday of the Month at 5:30 p.m.
Western Friends of the Library Meetings will be held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 5:15 p.m.
The Rockingham County Public Library is a department of Rockingham County government. The majority of the library’s funding is provided by Rockingham County government. The City of Eden provides the library with an annual municipal grant in the amount of $2,600. The library participates in North Carolina’s State Aid to Public Libraries program and receives some funding from the State of North Carolina.

A library card is required to check out materials and to access certain online resources. You may get a library card at any branch or from the Bookmobile. To receive a card you must fill out a short application form, show proof of your current address, and a picture ID. You can print out a library card application form, fill it out, and turn it in at any library location.
Children under the age of 16 must have a parent or legal guardian sign the library card application form.
Lost cards can be replaced at the cost of $2.00 per card.

A valid library card in good standing is required to check out materials from the library.
New books cannot be renewed.
Books, books on tape, and books on CD have 3 week loan periods and can be renewed twice.
Videos, DVDs, and video games have 1 week loan periods and cannot be renewed.
Recorded music and back issues of magazines have 1 week loan periods and can be renewed twice.
An item cannot be renewed if a hold has been placed on it.
Requests for renewals may be made in person or by calling any library branch.
The library does charge fines and fees for overdue, lost, and damaged materials.

The library strives to maintain a collection which includes a broad spectrum of titles in a variety of formats that will appeal to the varied interests in the community. The library’s collection includes the following materials:
Adult fiction, including mysteries, westerns, science fiction, romance, and inspirational.
Adult non-fiction in a variety of subject areas, including biographies and autobiographies.
Picture books and easy books for beginning readers.
Juvenile fiction and non-fiction books.
Young adult fiction and non-fiction books.
Spanish language fiction and non-fiction.
Books in large print format.
Books on tape for adults and children.
Books on CD for adults and children.
Playaway digital audiobooks.
Recorded music in CD format.
Videos and DVDs, including feature films, children’s programs. and educational and instructional programs.
Video games in Wii, PlayStation, and Xbox formats.
Magazines for adults and children.
A collection of reference materials.
Genealogy and local history materials.
Foreign language instruction in tape and CD formats.
A collection of Great Courses lectures on CD and DVD.
The Eden Library has a video camera that is available for checkout. A $25 deposit is required upon checkout. The deposit is returned upon check in of the camera provided the camera is returned in working condition.
All library branches offer public computers with high-speed internet access. Printing is available at the cost of .25 per page.
Many library computers also feature the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
The library’s catalog is accessible online from library patron access catalogs and for remote users outside of the library at rocki.rcpl.org.
Wireless (Wi-Fi) internet access is offered at all library branches. Users are expected to know how to access and use wireless internet connectivity. A handout is available with suggestions and tips, but staff can provide only minimal assistance to wireless users due to time constraints and workload.
Free computer classes are offered at the Eden, Madison-Mayodan and Reidsville Libraries. To sign up for classes call your local library.
You can print out an internet user agreement, fill it out, and turn it in at any library location.
The Eden, Mayodan, and Reidsville libraries offer free meeting rooms. A $25.00 deposit is required to reserve a room and will be refunded provided that the room is used properly and left in acceptable condition after the meeting.
The library handles the bookings for the Vera Holland Community Center in Stoneville. The Center is rented at the rate of $30.00 for four hours. There is a $100.00 security deposit required, which will be refunded provided that the building is used properly and left in good condition after the meeting. You can print copies of the Center’s meeting room policy and application.
The interlibrary loan service allows customers to borrow books that are not owned by the Rockingham County Public Library from other libraries across the United States. Requests for books are made online by library staff and the books are sent to the library through the mail. Loan periods and renewals are stipulated by the lending library. More information about interlibrary loan service is available at all branch libraries or contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
There is a $4.00 fee for each item requested through the interlibrary loan program. This fee helps to defray the cost of postage and shipping supplies.
Fines and Fees
The library currently maintains the following schedule of fines and fees:
Overdue books are charged at the rate of $.10 per day.
Overdue video and DVD rentals are charged at the rate of $1.00 per day.
Replacement library cards cost $2.00 per card.
Computer printouts and photocopies are charged at the rate of $.25 per page.
Interlibrary loan service is provided at the rate of $4.00 per transaction.
Fax service is provided by the library. Incoming faxes are charged at the rate of $.25 per page. Outgoing faxes to local numbers are charged at the rate of $.25 per page, while faxes to long distance numbers cost $1.00 per page.
Usage of library meeting rooms requires a $25.00 deposit, refundable with proper usage of the room.
The Vera Holland Community Center can be rented for a $100.00 refundable security deposit plus a $30.00 non-refundable rental fee for four hours of use.
The library sells ear bud listening devices for $2.00 each.
The library sells flash drives for $8.00 each.
All libraries have photocopiers for public use. The machines make black and white and color photocopies at the price of .25 per page.
All libraries offer fax service, both for sending and receiving faxes. Incoming faxes are charged at the rate of .25 per page. Outgoing faxes to local and toll-free numbers cost .25 per page and $1.00 per page for faxes to long-distance numbers. Faxes to international numbers are $5.00 for pages 1-3 and $1.00 per page thereafter.
The Eden, Reidsville, and Mayodan branches have free meeting space available for public use. There are guidelines for meeting room use so please contact a branch library for more information.
The Vera Holland Community Center is located next to the Stoneville branch and bookings for the Center are handled by Stoneville branch staff.
